Clara’s Strawberry Shindig!

So, I’ve been meaning to write this post for a couple of weeks now.  Yes, our child turned one, and yes, we threw a par-tay.  Honestly, though, I’ve been so exhausted from all the pinteresty inspired birthday decorations and thank you notes, that I just haven’t gotten around to blogging.

My parents graciously agreed to host the birthday extravaganza.  I told my mom we’d keep it simple and I’m confident that when I pulled out construction paper and glue guns they knew they’d gotten more than they bargained for.  Next year I promise to abandon google searches, etsy, and Pinterest in favor of Chick-fil-A and a Harris Teeter cake!  All jokes aside, a huge thank you to our family and friends for hosting and helping-couldn’t have done it without you!

Without further ado – here are the much anticipated pictures!  I’m certain there are 3 or 4 people out there who have been waiting for these. Thanks to our friend Lauren for taking these pictures-you helped Brian get out from behind the camera and enjoy the day!

Happy Birthday Clara Jane.  It has been an incredible, life changing year!

Daddy

Babe.  I can’t make you an amazing Father’s Day video, with the perfect song, angles, etc.  I can’t do a lot of quirky and creative (read: pinterest) things that everyone crafty makes.  I can’t cook gourmet meals with 45 ingredients I can’t pronounce.  Well, now that I’m writing I’m realizing there are a lot of things I simply cannot do.

I can, however, say thank you.  Thank you for living each day so selflessly.  Thank you for working hard to provide for Clara and I.  Thank you for being my biggest fan and loving all my awful silly habits. Thank you for rubbing my back most every single night.  Thank you for always handing me my towel after I take a shower.  Thank you for getting out my vitamins at night.  Thank you for telling me today that you’re going to go to ALL Clara’s ball games and dance recitals.

Just like we learned at Church today you aren’t just a Father, you’re a Daddy.  A really. REALLY. good one.

So very blessed to parent alongside of you.  Our girl is almost one.  Can you believe we’ve almost made it?

Love you more everyday,

Forty-Nine Weeks Old

The weeks are getting longer and the pics are getting harder, but we’re almost there. One year old. Hard to believe.

This week has been a good one. Clara took her first steps! She still likes to hold on to the fingers, but is getting more confident every day.

(Of course I always miss her steps before I can get the camera out.)
